Week 6 Prayer
From the Principals
Welcome everyone to Week 6. Our term continues to be filled with lots of activity. Our first week of swimming and then yesterday's amazing Dennington Day Out. In amongst all of this the children and teachers are working through many assessments in preparation for the end of the school year.
We would like to recognise and thank all of the incredible parents on the DDO committee for their commitment, energy and hard work this weekend but also all year. It is a huge undertaking but the end results are an incredible reflection on the work done by this group. On behalf of all of the school community, we thank you.
Our prayer today focuses on Peace. As today is Remembrance Day, while we look back, we also look to the future and pray for peace in our community and peace in our wider world.
We look forward to the week ahead, Jan & Amy.
Remembrance Day
We remember those who volunteered, sacrificed, served, fought, and died, for our freedom. We thank you, and we salute you as we salute those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Our student leaders presented a wreath at assembly today which will later be taken to the Dennington War Memorial.
We will never forget. We will remember you.
Walk to school
November is Walk to school month at St. John's!
We will have staff members waiting at the former Dennington Post Office in Drummond Street each Friday at 8.10am for a 8.20am departure, in November, to walk to school.
Our Diocesan Community
Wellbeing
World Kindness Day is being celebrated this Wednesday 13th November. World Kindness Day is a great day to begin building a new routine which means including intentional moments of kindness, laughter and delight. It also means taking a moment to enjoy and recognise when those things are happening.
Kindness starts with one. One smile. One compliment. One conversation. Always choose kindness!

Dennington's Day Out
What a day! A huge shout out to our DDO committee for all their hard work over the year to create a fantastic family day. DDO is our school's major fundraiser each year with figures still being calculated.
Thank you to each and everyone of you for coming along to support our day. We hope everyone had just as much fun as we did.
If you would like to jump on board next year please do, we would love to see some new faces on our committee.
Have you got some feedback from this year's DDO? We would love to hear it. Positive or negative feedback can be emailed to ddo@sjdennington.catholic.edu.au so we can take it on board at our next meeting.
Final DDO / breakup meeting for 2024 will be at Logans Restaurant on Wednesday 20th November at 7.00pm.
